In the Land of the Perpetrators: Holocaust Survivors in Post-War Germany
In the aftermath of the second world war, the Bavarian town of Landsberg am Lech became a site of profound historical reckoning. As the us army liberated the nearby concentration camps, thousands of jewish survivors were left with nowhere to go, leading to the establishment of a displaced persons camp in the town's former barracks. This film explores the complex, often fraught relationship between the survivors and the local population, as they navigated the trauma of the past and the challenges of building a new life in a place that had once been the heart of nazi ideology.
