The last Vikings, a group known as the Thule people, lived in Greenland during the 15th century. Due to climate change, overpopulation, and conflict with the Inuit people, the Thule people eventually abandoned their settlements and dispersed throughout Greenland and North America. By the 16th century, the Vikings had disappeared from Greenland, and their legacy was largely forgotten until the 19th century when archaeological excavations brought their history to light.
