The Earliest Years of Earth's 4.6 Billion Year History

Earth's earliest years were marked by a violent and chaotic period known as the Hadean Eon, which lasted from its formation 4.6 billion years ago to about 3.8 billion years ago. The planet was a molten ball, constantly bombarded by asteroids and comets. As the surface cooled, a primitive atmosphere formed, composed primarily of carbon dioxide and water vapor. Liquid water began to condense on the surface, creating the first oceans and setting the stage for the emergence of life. However, frequent volcanic eruptions and cosmic impacts continued to reshape Earth's landscape and atmosphere, making it a hostile environment for the development of complex life forms.
