Al Capone, seeking to eliminate his rival Bugs Moran, orchestrated the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. He hired lookouts to watch Moran's headquarters and signal when Moran arrived. When the lookouts mistakenly identified Moran's associates as the target, Capone's men dressed as police officers to gain entry before opening fire, killing seven men. Although Capone was never officially charged, the massacre solidified his reputation as a ruthless gangster.
