Operation Sudden Death, a daring raid in 1967 during the Vietnam War, involved the capture of 11 U.S. soldiers by a renowned North Vietnamese general, Vo Nguyen Giap. Giap, known as the "War Lord," led a surprise attack on an American Special Forces camp at Dak To, using a force that outnumbered the American troops. The captured soldiers were held as prisoners of war until their release in 1973, following the Paris Peace Accords that ended the war. Giap's successful operation demonstrated the skill and determination of the North Vietnamese forces and remains a notable chapter in the history of the conflict.
