Victory in Europe

Victory in Europe Day, generally known as V-E Day or VE Day, celebrated on 8 May 1945, marked the end of World War II in Europe. The unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany's armed forces was signed on 7 May, but fighting continued on the Eastern Front until shortly before midnight on 8 May. Celebrations erupted throughout the world, especially in the Allied nations. The day remains a public holiday in many European countries.
