The Evolution of Speed & Power in Motorcars| Power: Supersonic Car

A supersonic car is a land vehicle that is designed to travel at speeds faster than the speed of sound, which is approximately 767 mph (1,234 km/h) at sea level. ThrustSSC holds the current world land speed record, set in 1997 at a speed of 763 mph (1,228 km/h) and was the first and only car so far to officially break the sound barrier. The development of supersonic cars has presented numerous technical challenges, including the design of the engine, aerodynamics, and tires. Several projects are currently underway to develop new supersonic cars, including the Bloodhound LSR, which is aiming to break the 1,000 mph (1,609 km/h) barrier.
