Vito Genovese & the Genovese Crime Family

Vito Genovese, also known as "Don Vito," was a powerful boss of the Genovese Crime Family, one of the "Five Families" of the New York City Mafia. During the 1950s and 1960s, Genovese attempted to consolidate control over the entire American organized crime network known as "The Commission." However, his ruthless tactics and ambition led to his downfall. In 1959, Genovese was convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to 15 years in prison, where he died in 1969. Despite his incarceration, the Genovese Crime Family remained one of the most powerful and influential criminal organizations in the United States.
