Despite the abundance of nutrition information and the proliferation of "healthy diets," the global obesity epidemic continues to escalate. This paradox stems from multiple factors: our sedentary lifestyles, the pervasive availability of ultra-processed foods, our reliance on calorie-counting rather than nutrient-rich diets, and the lack of focus on hormonal and metabolic imbalances that contribute to weight gain. Additionally, the food industry's aggressive marketing campaigns have normalized consumption of unhealthy foods and undermined public understanding of what constitutes a balanced diet. As a result, we continue to grapple with the challenge of balancing personal responsibility with the influence of external factors that promote weight gain.
