Queen Anne - Last of the Stuarts

Queen Anne ascended to the English throne in 1702 as the last monarch from the Stuart dynasty. Despite her weak and sickly health, Anne's reign was marked by significant achievements. She oversaw the Act of Union in 1707, which united England and Scotland into the Kingdom of Great Britain. Under her leadership, the War of the Spanish Succession concluded with the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713, securing British dominance in Europe and North America. Anne's reign also witnessed the flourishing of the arts, with the likes of Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift becoming prominent literary figures. However, her death in 1714 without an heir marked the end of the Stuart line and ushered in the Hanoverian dynasty.
